The new BeeConnected app, developed by CropLife Australia and adapted for Canadian use by CropLife Canada and the Canadian Honey Council, aims to help protect local bee populations by acting as a conduit between farmers and beekeepers.

The app, which is a free download, gathers information from producers about where and when pesticides and treated seed are being used, and informs local beekeepers about the activity. Producers are also informed about all registered hives in their area.

Username information is shared, but real names and email addresses of users are kept private.
