In early March, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) published regulatory proposals for the initiative “Regulations Amending the Pest Control Product Regulations (Product Exemptions and Pest Control Devices)” for consultation. PMRA has extended the consultation period and will accept written comments and submissions until June 5, 2025.

PMRA is proposing regulatory amendments to the Pest Control Products Regulations to:

  • Exempt certain classes of pest control devices and products from the registration requirements under the Pest Control Products Act
    • For example, to eliminate regulatory duplication, codify current policies and ensure appropriate oversight of regulated products
  • Clarify the scope of the requirements for devices to ensure there are no regulatory gaps

THE IMPACT: What does this mean?

ACTION: What is CAAR doing?

CAAR will be participating in the information sessions. We will also be working with industry partners and CAAR’s Advocacy Committee to provide a written submission to PMRA on behalf of Canadian ag retailers regarding the proposed amendments.
